I've always liked writing.My favorite assignments in school were the creative writing assignments, because I like the idea of forced creativity.There was always some constraint or prompt in these assignments that forced me to think outside the box and be creative."Write a short poem from the perspective of a Japanese rice farmer."Or..."Umbrella, suspenders, antacid, seventy-two, and courtroom. Write a story that uses all 5 of these words, and don't exceed 1000 total words."You can do this for any creative activity— writing, making music, graphic design, painting, you name it.When you run into "artist's block," simply place a constraint on yourself and watch your brain figure it out.Now, I write for businesses.My "constraint" is that I have to write in the brand or business owner's voice.I get to put on a different hat every day, write stuff that I'm proud of, and have a huge impact on a business's top line.And I really, really enjoy it.But, I can't write good copy about someone or something I don't understand.So if you'd like me to understand you and vice versa, we should chat.
